Get updated! The sooner you prepare yourself and your staff, the better prepared you will be for the transition. It is important to make sure that you and your staff know how to use the products in your workplace safely. If there are products that have GHS labels or diamond shaped pictograms, all employees in the workplace should be certified to read and know what they means and how to deal with them.

Until December 1^st 2018 employers may have WHMIS 1988 as long as the materials they are working with are labeled with WHMIS 1988 with WHMIS 1988 pictograms. After December 1^st 2018 everybody will have completed WHMIS and the system will have transitioned into using only WHMIS which includes the new GHS revisons.
